The Pacific County Sheriff’s Office was notified and deputies responded in the office’s marine patrol vessel to recover the body and assist the kayakers. The body was transported to a nearby dock. The body was believed to be that of a man reported missing from the Raymond area on January 5th, 2015. The general physical attributes, clothing descriptions and identifying tattoos provided to investigators at the time of the disappearance matched the condition of the recovered body. The man missing was identified as Ross A. Baun, age 31 of McCleary.
Baun had last been observed alive on January 5th about one half mile up river on the bank next to the river from where the body was recovered. The body was released to the Pacific County Coroner’s Office. The cause of death is still undetermined.
