- Winds: south winds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 70 mph are expected at exposed headlands and beaches. Gusts of 60 mph are possible in the coastal communities.
- Timing: strong winds are expected to develop later this evening with the strongest winds expected between 11:00 pm and 2:00 am. The winds will decrease by late tonight.
In addition, NWS Portland has issued a high surf advisory...which is in effect from midnight tonight to 5:00 Wednesday.
A series of strong storms in the Gulf of Alaska will bring large swell to the coast beginning this evening. Expect incoming swell to reach 20 feet along the coast by midnight tonight...then build to 23 to 25 feet by early Monday morning. Large swell will continue to pound the coastline through late Tuesday night. Incoming swell will subside to below 20 feet by early Wednesday morning.
A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area...producing rip currents and localized beach erosion.
